Megan & Álvaro: A Wedding at Villa Bokéh, Antigua Guatemala

Our journey together began back in 2023 when they traveled from New York to Antigua Guatemala. Before they arrived, Álvaro reached out to us because he wanted help planning a surprise proposal for Megan. From the very beginning, we knew how much intention he was putting into every detail, and it quickly became clear that this was going to be something truly unforgettable.

Together we planned an experience surrounded by more than 3,000 red roses, creating a setting that felt straight out of a dream. Watching Megan walk into that space and seeing the emotion on both of their faces as Álvaro asked her to marry him is a memory we’ll always carry with us.

That trip also left a lasting impression on them. Guatemala quickly became much more than a destination. They fell in love with Antigua’s charm, its people, its atmosphere, and the feeling of slowing down together. By the end of their engagement trip, they already knew that when it came time to say “I do,” they wanted to return to the place where this new chapter had truly begun.

A few years later, they came back with their closest family and friends, who traveled from different parts of the world to celebrate alongside them at Villa Bokeh. The venue couldn’t have been a more perfect reflection of their vision. Nestled among lush gardens and surrounded by the beauty that makes Antigua so unique, Villa Bokeh offered an elegant and intimate setting where every part of the wedding day flowed effortlessly from one meaningful moment to the next.

The morning began quietly as everyone settled into the excitement of the day. Megan spent the first hours getting ready surrounded by the women she loves most, while Álvaro shared laughs and meaningful conversations with his family and closest friends. There was a peaceful feeling throughout the property, the kind of atmosphere that allows everyone to be fully present before the celebration begins. The natural light pouring into every room and the beautiful architecture of Villa Bokeh created the perfect backdrop for documenting every small detail, from handwritten vows to carefully chosen accessories and emotional first looks with family.

As guests gathered in the gardens, anticipation filled the air. Their ceremony was emotional from beginning to end, filled with heartfelt vows, joyful tears, and countless smiles from the people who had traveled so far to celebrate with them. Surrounded by nature and the people they love most, Megan and Álvaro promised forever in a place that had already become part of their story years before.

Every design choice throughout the wedding complemented the beauty of Villa Bokeh rather than competing with it. Elegant floral arrangements framed each space while allowing the gardens to remain the heart of the celebration. Soft textures, candlelight, thoughtful details, and timeless styling created an atmosphere that felt romantic, refined, and incredibly welcoming. Every corner invited guests to slow down, connect, and enjoy the evening together.

One of our favorite moments came after they were both ready, when we explored the gardens together to create their portraits. Rather than focusing on poses, we simply encouraged them to slow down, enjoy each other’s company, and soak in the reality that after years of dreaming, their wedding day had finally arrived.

Alongside digital photography, we also documented part of their wedding on film, something that has become incredibly meaningful to both us and our couples. Film has a timeless quality that cannot be replicated. The softness, the natural grain, and the beautiful tones create photographs that feel nostalgic from the very moment they are developed. Knowing that Megan and Álvaro will one day look back at these film photographs with future generations makes them even more special to us.

As the sun disappeared behind the mountains of Antigua, the celebration transitioned seamlessly into an unforgettable reception. Heartfelt speeches filled the evening with laughter and happy tears before everyone gathered on the dance floor to celebrate the newlyweds. There was so much joy in every part of the night, and it was impossible not to feel how deeply Megan and Álvaro are loved by the people surrounding them.

Having the opportunity to document their wedding through photography, film photography, and content creation made this celebration even more meaningful for us. Being trusted to preserve every chapter of their story, from their proposal to their wedding day, is something we never take for granted.
