A Civil Wedding in New York. A love that never sleeps in the city that taught us that.

WHEN EVERYTHING AROUND YOU COMES TOGETHER TO MAKE THE DAY, YOUR DAY.
New York is never the same twice. Some days the city is loud, rushed, unstoppable. But on the day Stephanie and Markell legally became one, it was a quiet, slow morning, filled with so much love. They woke up early and walked through Central Park, and somehow it felt like the entire city had conspired to be with them that day. From the trees, the air, the weather, it all felt perfectly planned for their civil wedding.
We arrived at Bethesda Terrace. The arches framed the first golden light of the day, soft and warm, wrapping everything in a delicate glow. Stephanie’s dress caught every ray of light with each step, while Markell couldn’t take his eyes off her. It was intimate.
COINCIDENCES THAT FEEL PLANNED
At Bethesda Fountain, life gave them a moment no one could have planned. One of those coincidences that make you think: It couldn’t have been any other way. A man sat nearby with his guitar and began playing the first notes of a song. At first, we didn’t think much of it, until they recognized the melody. It was the same song Markell’s sister will sing at their wedding in Antigua Guatemala. It was impossible not to be amazed. The coincidence was perfect. Once again, it was as if the city itself had conspired for them.
Stephanie and Markell began to sway gently, their smiles reflecting awe and gratitude for this moment that “was meant to be.”
A VEIL LIFTED BY LOVE. HANDS THAT HOLD MORE THAN JUST FABRIC.
But the beauty of this day wasn’t just in the city or its surprises. It was in the people who stood with them. Markell’s mother was with us from the very beginning, which was special for both of them. She helped with the details, lifted the veil at the perfect moment, and almost instinctively created one of the most beautiful photographs of the day: the veil floating in the air while Stephanie shone in the morning light. It wasn’t just help; it was love woven into every frame.
PROMISES IN BROOKLYN. VOWS IN THE HEART OF THE CITY.
Next, we headed to City Hall in Brooklyn for the ceremony. The grandeur of the building contrasted with the simplicity of the ceremony: a few words, a few signatures, and yet the magnitude of a “forever.” It didn’t need to be elaborate because the essence was there, in every glance, every whisper. It was the beginning of something strong, lasting, and unbreakable.
As they walked out, hand in hand, the city still kept its rhythm around them. Rushed cars, voices crossing, accelerated. However, in the midst of that chaos, they carried a calm, a peace and satisfaction, that they had just signed the best promise of their lives. It was as if Brooklyn itself had witnessed their vows, turning their new chapter into something lasting and eternal.
WHERE MASTERPIECES MEET. MUSEUMS, ART, AND THE START OF THEIR “FOREVER.”
Afterward, we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, known as the MET, Stephanie’s favorite place in New York City. There, among marble and centuries of history, we captured the love between Stephanie and Markell. Each photograph speaks for itself: art, their home, and a day they will never forget.
For them, New York isn’t just a backdrop for photos; it’s literally their home. Its corners hold memories and their everyday life. That’s why it was so important to create these memories here. Choosing these iconic locations wasn’t just for beautiful photos; it was a declaration. “This is where our story has been written, and this is where we choose to start the rest of it.”
This day in New York was more than a civil wedding. It was music played at the perfect moment, a mother’s hand lifting a veil, whispered promises in the heart of Brooklyn, and the eternal presence of art at the MET.
Stephanie and Markell showed us that sometimes the most extraordinary love stories happen in the most ordinary hours of the morning, when the city slowly wakes up and everything around you comes together to begin the “forever” of two people in love.
A LOVE THAT NEVER SLEEPS ON 35MM
Something we did, was shooting on 35mm film. They wanted to preserve their wedding memories in a unique and timeless way, and this was the perfect touch to make it happen. These photos speak for themselves; they capture the emotion and romance of that day. You can almost hear the “I do” coming out of each frame, they turned out absolutely beautiful.
